The Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School is designed to provide our students with a nurturing and challenging educational experience to achieve their fullest potential and address the health and economic disparities in our communities. Upon graduation, our students will be prepared for numerous pathways to post-secondary success, including: the highest levels of college achievement, gainful employment as certified health care professionals (EMT's), and a commitment to serve others as they pursue rewarding lives and respected careers for themselves.
The Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School is the first Career Technical Education (CTE) chartered in New York City.
The Career and Technical Education (CTE) program model is designed to empower students to complete high school and advance to higher education and career-track employment at family-supporting wages in high-demand industries. CTE incorporates academic rigor, real-world relevance and workplace skills, through programs informed by industry stakeholders providing guidance on curriculum and technology and offering work-based learning opportunities that students build upon for success in college and career.
