Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA) is a national nonprofit organization committed to diversifying the leadership pipeline in our nation and ensuring that diverse perspectives are brought to bear among the leadership sectors of our country. LEDA identifies and develops the academic and leadership potential of exceptional public high school students from low-income backgrounds in order to offset the ongoing underrepresentation of these students in the national leadership pipeline. We believe that highly competitive colleges and universities are a nexus for the development of leadership and require an infusion of diversity to improve the mix of ideas and information impacting leaders of public and private institutions across the nation. By helping socio-economically disadvantaged students gain admission to these institutions, LEDA seeks to equalize educational opportunity. Our goal is to locate talented students of modest means who are too often invisible to passive recruitment efforts, to prepare them to attend rigorous educational institutions, and to support them throughout their college careers and beyond. LEDA recognizes that we are better off as a nation and as a people if we offer equal opportunity regardless of socio-economic status, and if we draw upon the leadership potential of all of our most talented citizens.
