Butterfly Project is a grass roots volunteer organization of people from around New York City with a common goal—to encourage and assist in the planting of native plants in gardens and other public areas in order to create and strengthen habitat for native pollinators. We wish to encourage the appreciation of local community, school and public gardens and to suggest ways to interact with the natural world. At the same time, we strive to increase education about native plants that attract and provide habitat for native insects and other wildlife, particularly pollinators. We pool our resources and research funding opportunities to provide curriculum and educational advice to teachers as well as horticultural advice, plants and seeds for anyone willing to start a butterfly garden.
* All donations made to Butterfly Project NYC will be sent to their fiscal sponsor Open Space Institute.
