Volunteer for the Black Rock Forest Annual Deer Survey!

Mini-Workshop for Students with Robert Fuller (Black Rock Forest Volunteer)

Students (school and scouting groups welcome) ages 7 and up will learn sampling and surveying techniques, counting deer pellet piles, to help Black Rock Forest staff estimate the size of this year's deer herd.  Students will also learn to use a compass to follow a transect off trail as they apply the techniques out in the woods.

Volunteer Activity with William Schuster, PhD, Executive Director at Black Rock Forest

Following an orientation, volunteers will walk 1-2 mile transects off trail recording deer pellet piles to help estimate the size of the deer herd.
