|John Johansen house|
|openhousenewyork is thrilled to present its second program outside of
New York City. Travel to Dutchess County, New York for a rare opportunity
to visit and tour John M. Johansen's private residence.
Johansen will speak about the house and his career and give small group tours of the
residence. Originally built by the architect in 1975, and dubbed 'A Plastic Tent' the house is made of translucent corrugated fiberglass, that at once "speaks of shelter as an improvised and temporary place" yet its central 10 foot square rock hearth "one is still outside." Each guest will be presented with a copy of the book John Johansen: A Life in the Continuum of Modern Architecture.
Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
