Unlike traditional childhood literacy programs, the objective of the Reach Out and Read model is to deliver specialized early literacy counseling. Reach Out and Read achieves this by taking advantage of the unique access that pediatricians have to children while they are in their critical years of cognitive and language development - 6 months through 5 years old.
For over 13 years Reach Out and Read of Greater New York has served children and families in New York City, Long Island, and seven counties north of the city: Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan.
