Abingdon Square Conservancy is an independent park conservancy and is fiscally sponsored by Open Space Institute, Inc. (OSI), a non-profit public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501 (c)(3) and 509 (a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. (Founded in 1963, OSI is a land conservation organization working to protect landscapes of significant environmental, historical or agricultural value.) The Conservancy is currently in the process of securing status as a non-profit public charity exempt from federal income tax.
