Teaching English as a Second Language to Adults (TESLA) -- LAC Certificate Program
Duration: October 10, 2009 – August 7, 2010 plus 32-Hour Student Teaching Practicum
This special year-long teacher training program based on current theory and best practice consists of 6 on-site courses totaling 36 face-to-face teacher-contact hours of professional development training supplemented by a TESLA Online component. After completion of the 6 workshops, students participate in a 32-hour student teaching practicum.

Introduction to TESOL: The Theory, the Learner, the Context & the Field
Session 2 -- Saturday, December 12, 2009 -- 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Methods & Materials of Communicative Language Teaching
Session 3 -- Saturday, February 13, 2010 -- 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Strategies-Based Instruction for Teaching Second Language Skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Grammar
Session 4 -- Saturday, April 10, 2010 -- 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Standards-Based Curriculum Development, Syllabus Design & Lesson Planning for Different TESOL Contexts
Session 5 -- Saturday, June 12, 2010 -- 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Standardized & Formative Assessment in TESOL
Session 6 -- Saturday, August 7, 2010 -- 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Preparing for a Teaching Practicum
- An application MUST be submitted.
- All applications must be accompanied by $150 paid by check or credit card.
- This site is only to be used for credit card payments. $150 application fee + $900 tuition = $1,050 total.
- If an applicant is rejected, a $100 refund is made from the application fee.
- Tuition can be paid in a lump sum or in three payments as below.
