The NY Times Co. Nonprofit Excellence Awards, presented by The New York Times Community Affairs Department, the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York, and the New York Regional Association of Grantmakers, recognize the enormously important roles played by thousands of New York s nonprofit organizations in improving our lives and communities. The Awards will also recognize the challenges that nonprofits face in accomplishing their goals and will illuminate the difficult and complex elements of successful management that enable them to address these challenges and excel at their missions. Finally, the Awards will recognize the crucial role that well-managed nonprofit organizations play in enabling grantmakers to carry out their own missions.

Winning organizations will be recognized for excellent achievement in management at a special Awards Presentation in June, 2007.  Winners will receive cash awards, an opportunity to showcase their excellent management strategies in a Best Practices Workshop, a scholarship to be applied toward the Institute for Not-for-Profit Management at Columbia Business School Executive Education, and a chance to tell their stories.

This is your opportunity to tell all New Yorkers ? and the world ? what your organization accomplishes.  How does the way you manage make it possible? No two nonprofits are exactly alike; what makes yours unique?  What do you do that embodies the best of nonprofit management practice?

Through these Awards, we will inform all New Yorkers about what it takes to achieve management excellence in a nonprofit organization. All 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the New York City area are invited to apply.  The application deadline is January 29, 2007. The clinic will give those seriously considering submitting an application the chance to ask questions and get more detailed information about the process.
