| Crucial to the Board of Directors’ effectiveness is its ability to strategically select board members who are then engaged and performing according to mutually agreed upon expectations. Michael Clark, President of NPCC, Jane O'Connell, President of the Altman Foundation, and Michael Washburn, President of Washburn Partners, will guide the audience through the key steps in: recruiting members according to a strategic board development plan, setting clear expectations of new members, quickly channeling the energy and skills of new members into appropriate committees, and putting in place a system for regular performance evaluations.
