You are cordially invited to attend a screening of On Broadway, an award-winning independent film Boston Magazine called 'the next Good Will Hunting.'

On Broadway provides an authentic look at neighborhood life in Boston's Irish-American community. Jack O'Toole (Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block), a young and recently married carpenter, is moved to write a play loosely based on the lives of his family members following the untimely death of his beloved uncle. Refusing to allow his lack of theater experience to deter him, Jack heads to the library for a crash course. Unable to afford a theater, Jack holds auditions in a church rectory and rehearsals in the backroom of a bar. Despite these challenges and a series of calamities common in amateur theater production, Jack's passion for the play never waivers as he rallies friends and family to stage the play in a local pub. In the process, Jack helps heal a deep rift with his father. In addition to McIntyre, the cast includes numerous well-known actors with Boston ties, including Mike O'Malley (Yes, Dear,) Robert Wahlberg (Mystic River), Lance Green (Southie), Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live), and Will Arnett (Arrested Development) as well as Vincent Dowling, former Artistic Director at the Abbey Theater in Dublin.

The film had a sold-out premier at the Independent Film Festival of Boston and has been screened at numerous film festivals including Galway (in Ireland), Woods Hole, Newport Beach, and Saugatuck Waterfront Film Festivals, garnering numerous awards such as the Director's Choice Award at the Boston Irish Film Festival and Best Picture at the New Hampshire Film Festival.

An open bar reception and panel discussion with writer and director Dave McLaughlin and some of the actors from the film will be held after the screening.

All proceeds from this event will be used to support CASES' alternative sentencing programs for court-involved youth. Our education, employment and counseling services help young defendants to fulfill their obligations to the courts and achieve their dreams of going to college, finding a job and staying out of the justice system.
