Led by Torah-observant Jews with disabilities, Yad HaChazakah-JDEC works with people with disabilities living in Jewish communities to empower themselves to direct their own lives, pursue their goals, form support networks, and promote access and inclusion in their communities.
In addition to counseling callers and visitors, conducting seminars, and advocating for the removal of physical, communication, and attitudinal barriers, we run two support groups that are each led by and for young Torah observant men and women with physical disabilities. Yad also coordinates a “Shadchan Network” whereby nine shadchanim (matchmakers) work collectively to find matches among potential marriage partners with as well as without disabilities.
