NYLaughs, Inc. is a new 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation that is changing the cultural landscape of the Big Apple. We seek to elevate the comic arts and support the development of free live comedy events in public spaces throughout NYC.
Created in April 2007, NYLaughs’ signature event is called “Laughter in the Park” which is NY’s only free outdoor summer comedy series. Our focus has been on stand-up comedy. We just produced our 3rd “Laughter in the Park” series - 12 weekly shows in 6 parks over the summer in 2009.
We work hard to produce the best shows possible within the parks. We like being an incubator for comic expression and have LOVED having these opportunities to make people laugh, think and enjoy a sense of community.
We also love the idea that we are giving people a new idea for a way they can enjoy their City. Our efforts really paid off! We got the attention of the NYTimes and were listed 4x in the Weekend Arts Section over the summer. The NYPost made us a “Weekend HOT Pick” and TimeOut NY profiled us on their weekly WNBC segment called the “Weekend’s Best Entertainment.” We were also featured in 2008 on NY1, Channel 11 Morning News, as well as, gothamist.com.

Everyone can use a good, health-giving laugh, and we’re trying to organize more opportunities to bring funny, creative thought to people at times and places where they least expect it. From bums to bankers in our audiences, it has truly been a pleasure to see how laughter can bring people together in New York.
Our goal is to transform New York one laugh at a time.
