To this end, the company produces professional performances via its touring company (Calpulli Danza Mexicana), arts in education programming, and community outreach activities, which are free to low cost programs providing accessibility to high quality arts programming and training.
The Calpulli touring company continues to reach new audiences across the USA touring from coast to coast. Calpulli has been a featured artist Carnege Hall, Dollywood, and Queens Theatre in the Park. Calpulli aspires for its touring company to reach international acclaim.
Calpulli also serves children and families directly. Calpulli Youth Dance serves communities in Queens and Staten Island with free training in movement fundamentals and traditional Mexican dance. Its donation-based program allows access to all families. The program is grounded on the values of inclusion, artistic exploration, team work, esteem building, identity formation, and supporting a healthy lifestyle.
Calpulli Music was launched with its first class with the accordion instrument. As with dance, the class for youth is by voluntary donations. For adults the class is at a low fee to assure accessibility.
Calpulli serves the New York City area as a whole- and with each year increasingly throughout the United States- as ambassadors of an important, growing immigrant, Mexican community. |
