Drisha Institute for Jewish Education 37 West 65th Street 5th Floor New York, NY 10023 http://www.drisha.org
Drisha Institute for Jewish Education is dedicated to empowering women, transforming Jewish life, and building inclusive Jewish communities through engagement in intellectually-challenging and serious programs of Jewish learning. Drisha is a pioneering open and thoughtful center for the advanced study of Jewish texts. We provide multiple segments within the Jewish community the opportunity to engage in specialized courses, lectures, and full and part-time programs with an emphasis on havruta or partner study.
Drisha has grown significantly in scope and impact since its founding in 1979 and its graduates serve as educators, scholars and leaders in the Jewish community and the world at large. Drisha's continuing adult Jewish education programs are a key community resource and its Beit Midrash [study hall/library] is open to all.
Founder Rabbi David Silber's vision is to create "a more reflective and committed community." Currently, Drisha offers full time programs for women who wish to spend from one to three years studying in its Beit Midrash. In addition, Drisha offers unique winter and summer high school programs for girls, a Bat Mitzvah program, classes for engaged couples and fellowships for professional women in the arts to help them integrate Jewish knowledge into their various forms of artistic expression.
