Founded in 1967, Third World Newsreel is one of the oldest alternative media arts organizations in the United States. We are committed to the creation and appreciation of independent and social issue media by and about people of color, and the peoples of developing countries around the world. Besides our general fund, we also sponsor the Dottin-Fasulo-Perez Memorial Workshop Fund to honor these three women filmmakers, alumnae of the TWN Production Workshop - Laura Dottin, Jennifer Fasulo and Miriam Akoma Perez. In addition, we have a Preservation Fund, as we are trying to preserve the 40 plus year old films made by the organization in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
