Serving the five boroughs of New York City, Day One operates all of its programs on an empowerment model that invests young people in maintaining safe relationships for themselves and their peers. Working alongside youth, Day One educates, organizes and advocates on behalf of young people at risk of or experiencing intimate partner violence. Among other assistance, we help guide teens in identifying the warning signs of abuse; and we represent young mothers in obtaining protective orders or child support, custody and visitation orders. Every day, Day One confronts increased demand for our services in the face of challenges to secure the resources necessary to maintain and expand our programs. Our legal services and preventive programs are now relied upon by thousands of students, professionals and survivors of abuse. The support of our community is critical to our serving thousands of New York City 's teens every year.
